Located near Hahei beach on the Coromandel Peninsula, this hidden gem is accessible only by boat, kayak, or on foot. Its naturally formed rock arch is picture perfect and the Cathedral Cove marine reserve is abundant with marine life and coral reef systems. 2. Waiotapu, Rotorua

Just a short drive from Rotorua or Taupo, Waiotapu is an active geothermal area and is one of the most unique attractions on New Zealand’s North Island. The volcanic craters, bubbling pools of mud, and impressive geysers that erupt with heights up to 20 metres make Waiotapu a bizarre yet unforgettable experience.

3. Cape Reinga
